Xnovo PhD prize awarded at Danscatt 2020

The prize for this year’s best Danscatt PhD thesis was awarded to Jakob Bæk Grinderslev for his thesis, Boron and Nitrogen Based Complex Metal Hydrides as Energy Storage Materials, conducted at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, Aarhus University under the supervision of Professor Torben R. Jensen.

The committee regarded Jakob Bæk Grinderslev’s work on design and development of new synthesis strategies, leading to more than 100 new compounds, to be very impressive.

The award comes with a personal prize of 5000 DKK, sponsored by Xnovo, to encourage new young talents within the field of x-ray and neutron science.

Following the general trend of 2020, the Danscatt Annual Meeting 2020 was a virtual event, so physically present at the award ceremony was only the recipient, his supervisor (as photographer) and a representative from the prize committee, Professor Bo Brummerstedt Iversen, Aarhus University. However, all the Danscatt members were tuned in remotely and got to hear Jakob Bæk Grinderslev give a very nice presentation of his work.
