Meet us at IAVCEI 2025
Xnovo is attending the Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior, IAVCEI 2025.
29 June – 4 July, Geneva, Switzerland – see the full program here.
We’ll showcase some of our latest applications of crystallographic imaging to polymineralic rock samples:
🔹GrainMapper3D – non-destructive 3D mapping of grain shapes and crystallographic orientations of multiple phases in polycrystalline samples. For complex mineral and rock samples, combining the absorption and diffraction contrast modalities brings new 3D insight to supplement traditional 2D petrography, which may in time change the way we approach petrological research.
Olivia Barbee, Postdoctoral Researcher at Xnovo and Lund University, will present her work on visualizing and quantifying 3D spatial relationships between crystals of multiple minerals in a volcanic rock. She will also be open to discussing the application of lab-based DCT to other geologic materials.
